Sculpture

I began to sculpt wood when my granddaughter Emma asked me to make her a wooden duck for Christmas.  On the journey back from Calgary to Edmonton it came to me that I wanted to carve the curve of a swan’s neck. I have never looked back since.

I carve the wood by hand using a mallet and gouges from the Swiss company Pfeil.

Recently, I have begun to combine carving techniques with lathe turned forms.
